Morcheeba

Morcheeba formed at the height of trip-hop mania in the mid-'90s. The group’s early releases boasted the earmarks of the post-Massive Attack, post-Portishead landscapes — witchy vocals, slo-mo funk, and murky atmosphere — and expanded to embrace a retro-futuristic pop aesthetic.

Soulful vocalist Skye Edwards was integral to the Morcheeba sound — before leaving the band in 2003 — and Blood Like Lemonade boasts her return, alongside brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey. As the reunion suggests, Lemonade sounds like a rebirth of the early Morcheeba aesthetic — the magical chemistry bubbles on these lushly produced, neo-soul tunes with noir stylings.
